Anesthesiology, Chartered was founded by three anesthesiologists: Archie Tetzlaff, M.D., Aytekin Kodanaz, M.D., and Harold Esrig, D.O.  Drs. Tetzlaff and Kodanaz were  practicing at Providence Hospital and Dr. Esrig was practicing at St. Margaret Hospital.  Upon the merger into Providence-St. Margaret Hospital in 1972, these three anesthesiologists came together to form Anesthesiology, Chartered.  A new hospital was opened in 1976 at 8929 Parallel Parkway in Kansas City, Kansas.  Since that time, Anesthesiology, Chartered has been the sole provider of anesthesia services for what is now known as Providence Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas.

From that beginning, Anesthesiology, Chartered has grown over time to meet the needs of the community it serves.  In 1999, we expanded our services to the Heart of America Surgery Center, a free standing ambulatory surgery center also located in Kansas City, Kansas.  And in the summer of 2006, Anesthesiology, Chartered became the exclusive provider of anesthesia services for Saint John Hospital in Leavenworth, Kansas.

Our group currently consists of 12 Anesthesiologists, 17 CRNAs, and 1 ARNP.  Our practice is located in Wyandotte and Leavenworth counties in Kansas.  Our staff has many years of experience and a diversity of clinical training.  We provide anesthesia for a wide variety of surgical procedures and coverage for obstetrics.  In addition, we offer a comprehensive acute and chronic pain management program.

Anesthesiology, Chartered has a long standing commitment to serving the patients, physicians, and hospitals of Wyandotte and Leavenworth counties with quality anesthesia and pain management services.  We will continue to position ourselves to meet the future needs of these communities by providing timely, cost-efficient, and appropriate care. We place an emphasis on satisfaction, patient safety, and on demonstrating quality clinical care.
